Here is a link to the Monumental Inscriptions of St Mary
Churchyard, Stansted, Kent, carried out by the Kent Archeological Society.

The two villages of Stansted and Fairseat are perched on the edge of the North Downs in Kent, less than a mile apart. This beautiful area has been my home since 2001 and as an ardent photographer I find I have amassed quite a collection of photographs of the countryside and local events. I also fitfully research historical photographs and writings on the 2 villages and surrounding area. I hope you enjoy my findings.

The Manor House Fairseat - old postcard
Found this old postcard on Ebay, I drive this road often but I think a tree may be growing in the church yard which blocks the view of the house from here now.

War Memorial in Stansted postcard, circa 1923.
New postcard of the War Memorial in Stansted found on Ebay. It said that it is circa 1923. The bank opposite has certainly changed a bit, I don't think that three legged tree is there any more.

Snowed in!
On the evening of 11th March 2013 much snow fell on the Fairseat and Stansted area, with high winds making the drifts the largest I've seen in my 11 years here. Our lane was so full of snow even the snow plough could not get down it as there was nowhere for the snow to be pushed to, so a digger had to come and labouriously remove the snow by dumping it wherever it could. Luckily I managed to photograph some of it before the digger arrived. Enjoy the photos.
