The two villages of Stansted and Fairseat are perched on the edge of the North Downs in Kent, less than a mile apart. This beautiful area has been my home since 2001 and as an ardent photographer I find I have amassed quite a collection of photographs of the countryside and local events. I also fitfully research historical photographs and writings on the 2 villages and surrounding area. I hope you enjoy my findings.

Old postcard of Soranks Cottage, Fairseat
Very nice old image of Soranks Cottage, I would imagine it was taken about 1930. When I first moved to the area, Soranks Cottage was very run down and looked almost derelict so I was surprised to find out that someone still lived there. I'm sure there is a story therein, to tell. The cottage was renovated and extended approx. 2006? It still retains much of its character, including the front low wall and railings, and half-round shaped window on the 1st floor.
